Stash the Cash

I think the majority of people who know me, know that I am saving up (since always) for a Mulberry bag. I've been into Mulberry stores on several occasions just to 'try one on' to find my perfect match. 'Til then I happily buy Topshop's leather bags, most recently a black tassel H&M bargain and as of today this little satchel bag from New Look. It was a steal at £11.99 (originally £14.99) with 20% student discount which they are offering for a few weeks only!

The main reason I got this is that it doesn't have that 'cheap' look, feel OR smell about it! It isn't real leather obviously, but it feels really nice and not that usual plastic-y feel you would associate with faux-leather! In fact a lot of the bags they had in looked much more expensive than they were.
I don't know about you, but the zip detail reminds me of a certain Mulberry Taylor bag? Just a tiny bit?

As I am really not a fan of fake designer bags, this high street number will do me just nicely 'til I get the real deal.

Please excuse the terrible quality of pictures! They're taken with my iphone and really aren't the best. It's my birthday in a month though and I've asked for a decent camera, so bare with me ;)! ♥

A life in fashion exhibit

Today I had to go to the library for some more books on my dissertation and was feeling very blah about it. I haven't been into LCF's Oxford street HQ in a while and totally forgot that the fashion space was hosting Carmen: A life in fashion exhibit, which promptly lifted my spirits! Carmen Dell'Orefice is amazing, one of the worlds greatest supermodels she got signed at 13 and is now 80! That is how I want to age, she looks incredible.

It is strictly no photography in the fashion space (rahh) so I could only take a sneaky shot outsite, but here is the link to the event - how glam is Ms. Dell'Orefice! I recommend you go for some lovely vintage Vogue and Harpers Bazaar piccies to inspire <3

what Im wearing today

top and necklace from topshop.

EDIT: I wore this necklace once and the eye pendant fell off and one of the silver chains broke and it's unfixable. I'm not sure how much I paid for it as it was a 20% off day, but it would've been around a tenner so you don't expect that to happen, usually Freedom at Topshop is good and not flimsy?!

2nd EDIT: as a positive though, I felt like a mermaid in the shiny blue top <3

Polka-dot nails by Topshop

This was just an easy, can't-really-be-bothered-doing-anything-complicated-whilst-watching-new-girl-on-4od effort with my nails.

I used Topshop nail polishes in Parma Violet and the dots are Gone Fishing, £5 each.

e.l.f brush shampoo

I just tried out e.l.f brush shampoo, £3.50, for the first time as my brushes were in dire need of a good clean! In order to try it out and give it a fair review I chose a range of different brushes to clean.

1. Mac Powder puff
2. No7 foundation brush
3. BareMinerals full flawless face brush
4. No7 blusher brush
They were in a pretty bad state as I forget to clean them regularly (slaps own wrist), and usually just use ordinary shampoo, which does do the trick.

But e.l.f's special brush shampoo boasts anti-bacterial cleaning properties which washes away all traces of dirt and make-up whilst conditioning to provide a clean and soft application for everyday use, which sounds good to me.

The instructions for use are simple, massage a small amount mixed with water into the brush and rinse clear. Now I actually had to lather, rinse, repeat so have already used up quite a bit of the small bottle (120ml). I can compare to MAC brush cleaner, which I remember lasted me AGES - but it was a lot more expensive so each has it's good and bad points I guess.

As you can see it has worked very well in removing all traces of make-up and my brushes are left looking, smelling and feeling soft and clean.  The shampoo costs £3.50 and can be bought on their website.

blogging from bed..

I've been ill the past week with the winter flu, which hasn't been fun at all! Sleeping all day drinking Lemsips was not how I envisioned my start into the new year! However, I'm on the mend and to cheer my sick self up I did a little online shopping.

I'd always wanted to try out Elf products but just never got round to it, so with more than enough time on my hands I browsed their entire site and found fellow bloggers reviews on products that took my fancy.

And with everything being so affordable I snapped up a good few bargains which I can't wait to blog about! I also ordered the Naked 2 pallet so that will be getting a review too. All in all I haven't been able to do too much but I'm headed back to London this week so hopefully a lot more exciting fashion and beauty things will happen for me to write about soon!

til then <3

meet you down the pier

Candy stripes and Brighton Rock - the playful new Mulberry ad campaign for Spring/Summer 2012 is far too cute. The over sized props and sweet as sugar colours are just delicious.

RED GLITTER VANS

plz be mine now!
I saw these recently and fell in love.
They remind me of Dorothy's red shoes in Wizard of Oz! maybe if I say 'there's no place for these shoes like my home..' three times they'll magically appear... if that should fail, I'll just get them online.

Soap and Glory: Wash Almighty & Butter Up

I love all Soap and Glory products based on their packaging alone. They're designs and names for everything are really cute, but sometimes I'm not a huge fan of the smell of their products. Clean On Me for example I can just about deal with, but this shower gel I tried was just a bit too strong for me.

Wash Almighty Body wash is a very strong scented detox spa shower gel, infused with Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Chocolate, Mint AND Thyme - all very strong smelling ingredients. The wash itself is a lovely consistency and I like the pump for easy in-shower use. Through personal preference I wouldn't purchase this again, but if you like stronger scents then this ones for you.

Along with this I bought the Butter Up body butter which is super intense for extra dry-skin. It is made with cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, shea butter, aloe vera, vitamn E, 5-fruit skin smoothers and Grapeseed oil. That's a lot of moisture in one tube! So, first off it smells so much nicer than the shower gel! The consistency is lovely as it rubs in well and doesn't leave too much residue (some remained on hand). It definitely improved the appearance and condition of my skin, though I don't think my type would count as 'extra dry' so I can't vouch that it does as it says on the tin.

The only criticism I have is that it is so hard to squeeze this one out of its tube!!! The tag line on it says 'Get Rid Of Your Chap...just pop open the cap' but it's not that simple haha..or maybe I'm just very un-fit and can't even squeeze a tube of body butter...

Vintage Versace

Ok so it's not really Versace, but what a knock-off this bag is. It's from Absolute Vintage in London and I absolutely love it! Sorry about the terrible pic, it was taken with my macs webcam - I'm due to get a new camera soon which means muuuuch better and clearer pics!
