fresh to deathh

OKAY admit it. Who drank/ate/partied way too much the last few days? Well you don't have much time to recuperate til NYE where it's done all over again!

I'm trying to drink loads more water than usual, eat healthy and go long winter walks each day to keep fresh faced. Also been over-dosing on fruit teas cos my new cup is far too pretty to ever put down...

If on the day none of that's worked I always have some trusty make-up wonder things to fall back on. I absolutely love Givenchy Acti'mine which is a highligher/illuminator, make up base and it is just amazing. And it smells SO GOOD! A similar cheaper alternative is Benefits That Gal, which feels a little more watered down compared to Givenchy but is still very good and also smells AMAZING.

How do you look your best after partying too hard - do you go all health freak or do you cheat? or a little bit of both like me ? ;)

new years approaching fast...

I'm quite nervy about the new year approaching so fast! At the moment I am lulling away in my little cocoon, filled with my mamas cooking, kids movies on tv, and lie ins 'til lunch time. And I know this cannot last. I want to enjoy the last few days of hibernation before New Years Eve chilling out, before the serious work kicks in. Then it will be non-stop til May, by the end of which I will hopefully have a lot of exciting things lined up!

But let's not think too far ahead. Some NYE partying needs to be done first. I'm going to a house party with friends, as town is always so crazy busy and you can't ever get in anywhere without queuing for hours and there's never any taxis home that won't charge you a small fortune. So I have my dress, my booze and everything set to go for a fun night with friends <3 which is really what new years is about anyway isn't it.

I'm debating whether to make any resolutions or not, as really, do I ever keep them?

What are your New Years Eve plans and what will your resolutions be??

baby, it's cold outside..

The skies were clear and the ground freshly powdered with snow, the perfect excuse to wrap up warm and spend the day exploring. Glasgow's West End was looking like a Christmas picture postcard, and after soaking up these pretty scenes and enjoying the fresh air, some gingerbread lattes and chats with best friends warmed me right up <3

back 2 MAC

Not gonna lie, it takes me AGES to collect my six empty MAC containers. Their foundations/concealers last me ages as do the eyeshadows and the only reason my empty bronzer is in the mix is cause it broke and fell out :( This is why I don't want to just pick aaaany free lippy to swap for my empties,  I need the perfect one!

You can tell quite a bit about a girl from her lipstick, my friend Fee is Chatterbox and my friend Carolyn's signature lip is Myth.. my top favey MAC lipstick colours are Hue and Crosswires for neutral, Bombshell for pink and and Eager for red. I do fancy Chatterbox, but as it will be a freebie I think I might try something completely different. I may even be as adventurous as a purple tone, such as Up the Amp! Any suggestions?

the wedge lace-up boot

Recently got myself a sweet pair of wedge lace-up boots. Best ever for winter, they're so comfy and easy to walk in and I love them!

Now I got my eyes set on these Jeffery Campbell bad boys...

and pose!

Saturday night I had some much needed girl-time, a chance to take a little breather from the crazy amount of uni work going on right now.

My dress is from Urban Outfitters, I love the bondage-style back detail and I teamed it with a gold chain River Island belt and vintage chunky gold arm cuff. Lots of giggles, dancing, and photo posing! ;)

wish list. music edit

So from my last post you can see I went to see the hottest babe alive (after rhi-rhi and beyonce) Katy Perry. She was incredible, but I'm now experiencing post-concert blues. I'm so jealous of everyone going to some pretty amazing gigs this coming month. Even my boyfriend is at it - though he will actually be ON stage. But this is total gig envy, especially with Bon Iver, Death Cab, Frank Turner and Incubus playing the UK. I'm even wishing I was going to see Matt Cardel, it's that bad. Can you add to this wish list of music tingz you wanna go to?

facets of fuchsia

I lalalove Revlons new nail polish, Facets of Fuchsia. Advice however to all you kittens hastily applying - this bewitching purple requires a clear base-coat, because no matter how gorgeous it is, you will want to be able to remove at your leisure (unless sitting for hours with your hands in acetone is ya thing).

Sunday, 30 October 2011

Each year, I leave my Hallowe'en outfit 'til the very last minute. And each year finds me digging out the old cat-ears and donning a black body-leggings combo... et voila! A kitty cat! This year I tried to think of something a little more original (nothing to do with the fact my cat-ears can't be found), and went as Natalie Portman aka Black Swan. It really didn't take much effort at all, I simplified her heavy eye make-up and found a silky top and tutu and some feathers for my hair. Had I had more time I would have definitely bought myself some amazing red contacts for the added scary factor.

falling leaves

Today was a perfect autumn day, crisp air and the orangey glow of the sun. My beautiful girly Diana and I went for a walk around our secret garden and filmed some scenes for her new fashion film project. Dreamy stuff...

i'll be rockin' this b-eat

Sure, we hear all about super skinny, size zero models and celebrities in the press almost daily, and the term 'anorexic' is now just a very a widely used adjective in the fashion media. But for people who suffer from this illness, it's not one to be flung around so loosely.

B-eat is an amazing Eating Disorders organisation who want to change the way people think and talk about eating disorders. Their vision is to improve the way services and treatment are provided and to help everyone see that the illness can be beaten.

They have just designed this pretty t-shirt exclusively for New Look!

It is such an amazing cause to support.

T-shirt's cost £8.99 with £4.50 from every sale going to the B-EAT charity.

the x-factor

One of my favourite parts about the X-factor, even more so I'd say than the cringe-worthy auditions, is the after-bootcamp make-over!!

Without fail you notice the contestants' teeth those few shades whiter, hair that bit smoother and sleeker, and since it is a multi-million pound TV show, you'd expect some show-stopping outfits too. Since (now ex-X-factor) stylist Grace Woodward got axed over some previous dodgy outfit choices, this years newcomer should find things pretty easy. Or maybe not.

I loveeeed Amelia Lily's original look and at just 16 she's obviously still experimenting, but by putting her in that pink leather jacket with the out-dated pink hair just made her look so much older trying to be young. It didn't make sense. And cute wee Janet Devlin suddenly turned into Florence Welsh/Nicola Roberts? Of course the guys all got their standard grey V-neck down to the belly-button t-shirts and don't get me started on Kitty's eye make-up....

God, the X-factor really brings out the bitch in me and my girl babes, the claws are out! Probably 'cause we may be stylish kittens but sing like drowning cats.

stella's sleepover

My beautiful and talented girl-babe Holly has just returned from Paris Fashion Week, where she was doing all the backstage workings at Stella McCartney. She met stunning models Miranda Kerr and Natalia Vodianova... very jealous! I am so proud of her though, and the show itself looked amazing- like a perfectly polished pyjama party!

wish list

I need this sequin playsuit in my life! Just imagine twirling around in this on the dance-floor in some super-high Jeffrey Campbell heels. I'm thinking perfect for a Christmas night out, which gives me time to start saving up as it's not exactly cheap...

playing house

The past few days have been crazy busy! I've just moved into my beautiful new flat, which unfortunately also means I've been unpacking boxes, boxes, boxes.  The last one has just been emptied though, and although my room still needs some finishing touches, I've lit a scented candle, scattered cushions and blankets on the bed, and got my favourite mug ready for a cup of tea - already feels like home sweet home <3

i heart TriBeCa

It's the day before I head back to London and my total babe of a boyfriend treats me to breakfast in New York! Well, almost. Who would have thought that in the heart of Glasgow's West End, you'd find a tasty slice of the Big Apple? TriBeCa is pretty easy to spot (the Yellow New York Taxi in-front of it kind of is a giveaway), so why I'd not been here before I do not know. Everything from the decor, to the menu, to the atmosphere is your all American dream. I had the super berry smoothie and pancakes..YUM!

find me at the marketplace

In a previous post I mentioned the beautiful vintage clothing boutique Champagne Downtown. Their ASOS store has NOW LAUNCHED! Click here to see! I'm super excited about this, and not only because a sneaky little picca of myself in some of their vintage finest appears on the site's 'about page' - truly honoured <3. I already spy some winter must-haves, such as the gorgeous knit-wear found here...but which to choose?

out with the new..

I'm more than into London Fashion Week showing all the newest emerging trends for next season,  but there's something special about vintage clothing, something that won't ever go stale. And everywhere I'm looking these days, a vintage fair pops up, fashion forward and edgy enough to rival any catwalk show. Yes, there will still be the obligatory tea and cake stands and the cute-as-your-granny floral prints at such events, but something darker and much more interesting seems to be emerging too.

Maybe it's the winter months looming or maybe it's the way we're thinking these days, but fashion has toughened up and we won't just buy and bin any more - we invest. Just look at how trends are coming and going quicker than ever before, and then look at the likes of Champagne Downtown (who are launching their much anticipated ASOS store As. We. Speak). High fashion pieces, but to keep and treasure for always. This is vintage styled within an inch of it's life.
